Increasing Employee performance through Incentives and Recognition
A major pharmaceutical client was challenged with developing a more effective approach to delivering recognition to all US-based employees in a manner that: created recognition equity across all work groups; communicated and tracked activity via a web-based site; provided for a common award vehicle and recognition tool; allowed for both individual and team-based award capabilities; included controls to protect department recognition budgets; included both local level as well as organization-wide initiatives.
The selected approach provides measures of success that include: frequency of use, the creation of an easier and more user friendly process, and an ability to prevent cost overruns. In addition, messaging was modeled after existing cultural values such as innovation, vision, teamwork and leadership. The result is a highly successful five-year initiative, still going strong, to recognize all top performing employees in alignment with client direction.
